My work is about colour and the application of it on to paper or canvas

Working with watercolour, I am inspired and excited by the serendipitous outcomes that emerge as I work with the medium, rather than against it. The work that develops from this initial interaction creates a range of shapes and form which often demand involvement from the observer.

In my oil paintings, I take great pleasure and delight in the plastic nature of the medium causing it to flow and saturate the canvas with colour.

As well as painting, I have also been working on a series of mythological drawings in pen and ink, allowing me to submit to my passion for pattern and decoration in a more detailed and complex way.

In August 2010 I spent two weeks at the Slade School of Art in London attending the Summer School – ‘Drawing into Painting 2’. This has had a profound effect on my work and has sent me spinning off into entirely new and exciting directions which I intend to develop in a studio situation.
